#theSOproject Foundation

Foundation is probably the make up item that excites me the most.  Having grown up with pretty rubbish skin, I love how a good foundation can transform your complexion, giving a range of looks from matte through dewy to radiant.  For me, foundations are what I am drawn to when visiting a make up counter and I have far more in my collection than I actually need!

Whether it is too even your skin tone, reduce shine and oiliness, hide blemishes, hydrate or give you brighter, more radiant skin, there is a foundation for you.  Bases come in many forms - tinted moisturiser or BB cream, mousse, liquid, paste, pressed cream, pressed powder and loose mineral powder.  I like to try different ones on different days but some people prefer to stick to one type.

Here are my 3 TOP TIPS for getting the best results:

1.   Experiment
There are so many bases out there, for so many skin types and concerns, that it would be impossible to recommend 'the best'.  Make up counters and specialized stores such as Bobbi Brown and MAC have resident make up artists who can match you to good foundations for your skin type and colour, usually without the pressure of a hard sell.  Most places will also give you free samples, especially if they have new products out.  Small sachets can also be found in magazines.  Look for bargains to try out new products in blog sales and online sales - I found my current favourite from By Terry for £23, a MASSIVE reduction from its £93 RRP.

2.  Mix and match to get the right colour
As a big fan of gradual tan and the occasional full-on fake tan, a way to modify my base colour is essential.  I quite happily use a little blob of 2 different foundations to get the right colour or finish.  I also like to mix in some Bourjois bronzing primer for a more drastic colour change.

3.  Blend, blend, blend
There is nothing worse than seeing a foundation 'tide mark' round the edge of your make up.  Use a brush (the Real Techniques Expert Face or Blending brushes are good); a sponge or your fingers and blend down your neck to ensure there is no visible line.

What are your favourite foundations?

Captcha is the code that comes up and you have to type in when you try to leave a comment to prevent spam. It annoys some people so much that they don't bother leaving comments. You can turn it off through Blogger settings. I have turned it off and touch wood still don't get spam comments.

    1. Thanks 😊

You should try it, I was shocked at how much coverage you can build. The RR expert face brush is good for getting full coverage.
